Projects – publicAtkinson Building Contractors has worked alongside local councils and public funded bodies to provide a variety of projects including school extension alteration and refurbishment, health care projects and alteration works to occupied properties. HIGH HESKET SCHOOL – a single storey extension to an existing rural primary school, successfully provided a foundation level teaching facility within time and on budget. QUEEN ELIZABETH GRAMMAR SCHOOL, PENRITH – a two-storey extension sandwiched between two existing buildings on the site provided the school with additional IT and teachers offices. The works largely involved a steelwork structure and curtain wall façade, with all the works being undertaken during school term times. The facility enhances the excellent teaching at the school and a further project completed for this client. ST ANDREWS CHURCH, PENRITH – a good example of the diverse work we undertake. The project involved the formation of a servery within the main Grade One listed church, by removal of some of the pews and transforming them into a servery counter and hymnbook shelving. Other works involved creating new entrance screens, external paved areas and amenity lighting . LAKES MEDICAL PRACTICE, PENRITH – an NHS Estates scheme, involving the amalgamation of two GP surgeries into one practice. The scheme comprised of refurbishment of offices and patient waiting areas.
