Projects – residentialAs well as our own private housing developments, we have worked with a number of housing associations (HA) in the area including Eden HA, Two Castles HA, Impact HA and Home HA. Projects have included flats for young people, new build sheltered and affordable housing and refurbishments to existing properties. YORK STREET, PENRITH – this social housing development procured through design and build is one of several carried out for the same client. The 30 unit development, comprises a mix of 2 and 3 bedroom homes providing rental, part and full ownership. Built on a brown field site, the homes have been designed to provide flexible and quality accommodation. The homes are arranged over two and three levels and feature a seemingly eye-catching cladding façade and offering views across the town TYMPARON CLOSE, NEWBIGGIN – a further development for a long-standing customer, who we have worked alongside in a collaborative relationship for some ten years. Providing residential family accommodation in a rural location. Again procured through design and build, within a strict budget. CARLETON HALL GARDENS – a development of 20 larger than average detached houses located on the edge of town. To take in advantage of the elevated position and take in the panoramic views towards “Saddleback”. MEADOW SIDE, LANGWATHBY – another example of our continued working with a regional social landlord. A mix of house and bungalows, with a total of 13 properties, constructed with the use of a timber frame. This development fulfils the need for low cost family homes on the eastern fell side. The build quality award was given to us for this project. VICTORIA HOUSE, PENRITH - an eye catching design seen when entering the town from the south. The existing detached Victorian property provided the core of the development and the new extensions merge with the old, achieving 17 unit project of flats and family homes. Built with a timber frame, re-using many materials from demolition sections of the existing building provide a sustainable low cost development. A collaborative scheme with contractor purchased site and design and build methodology. THE RAILWAY TAVERN – an award wining design and imaginative conversion of an empty former public house in Penrith. This scheme undertaken for Eden Housing Association provides 4 flats for rent. FELLGATE, RENWICK - a rural family holiday home at the bottom of the Pennines, the property which had previously remained untouched for a generation, was transformed into a modern accommodation whilst maintaining its’ rustic origin. With the use of a borehole to provide drinking water and ground source heat pump, it is an ideal example of how the old mixes with the new. Awarded following a competitive tendering process. An example of how our skilled tradesman adapt to conversion works, with the same qualities of new build projects. KILN HOLM, EDEN LACY – in a picturesque location on the banks of the River Eden, a traditional sandstone barn was transformed into a luxury holiday let. An unstable structure, in an isolated location and restrictive planning made this a very interesting project. This success occurred with direct contact and negotiation with our client and without an architect through the build process. HIGH BANK COURT, EAMONT BRIDGE – a small development of our own, providing 4 units, Three 3 bedroom family homes and a 4 bedroom detached unit over three floors. SEAT HILL, LAZONBY –2 unit luxury 3 bedroom detached properties. Built in timber frame with the use of large glazed panels to the front façade, delivers a development with a stunning design. With our reputation of providing quality homes, we were awarded the contract with limited competition MEADOW HOUSE, MAULDS MEABURN –The second eco-project we have been involved in with the same client and an indication of the quality and service Atkinson Building Contractors are used to providing on ever changing eco-friendly projects. Included within the scheme is a Kingspan's closed panel SIPS timber frame system, with additional insulation to the inner faces of the external walls, a whole house heat recovery system, energy efficient glazing, solar roof panels and a wood pellet stove. There was a feature article on the property in the December 2008 edition of "Built It" magazine. |
