On Tuesday (12th), HRH Princess Ann visited the Carlisle Riding for the Disabled Association and praised the work of the organisation and it's sponsors which proudly include Atkinson Building Contractors.
The association, which was established in 1973, has been run entirely by volunteers ever since. Last year, it enlisted the help of local businesses to purchase sponsorship boards, that are now proudly displayed in the arena of the RDA’s home at Blackdyke Farm, raising well over £9,000 to help provide therapy, achievement and enjoyment to people with disabilities in Cumbria and southwest Scotland.
Princess Ann, known for her love or horses, watched members of Carlisle's branch of the RDA perform routines and spent time chatting to those involved before handing awards to staff, riders and horses. Atkinson's were thrilled to be invited as a sponsor of the RDA to enjoy the visit and contribute to the celebration of the great work the association does. The Princess Royal also unveiled a plaque marking her visit, which also was part of the association's 43rd birthday.
“Thank you very much indeed for the difference that you’ve made – some of it applies to individuals who have been able to make friendships.
“Thank you so much for your hard work.”
Carlisle RDA runs riding lessons every Thursday and on two Tuesdays each month. To find out more, please call 07920 453051 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
