Demolition and alteration to the existing building, coupled with the construction of new school hall and kitchen facilities to celebrate the centenary of the school. The design and build option provided the client with greater cost certainty and as contractors are more flexible approach to engineering costs down.
The site of the extension was to the rear, with dedicated access across the school playground. The area of the extension required a sympathetic building envelope to match the existing with the use of modern alternatives to traditional materials, this was achieved successfully within budget.
