Atkinson Homes is proud to announce the successful delivery of a Tiny Forest at Tor Place, Ambleside, created in partnership with Earthwatch Europe.
This exciting initiative brings long-term environmental and community benefits to the development and the wider area, reinforcing the company's commitment to responsible, sustainable construction.
The Tiny Forest features 17 native tree and shrub species, carefully selected to maximise biodiversity and resilience. Planted densely using the Miyawaki method, the forest will establish quickly, creating a rich habitat that supports birds, pollinators and other wildlife while contributing to carbon capture and improved air quality.
To mark the planting day, we welcomed pupils from Ambleside Primary School, who played an active role in planting the young trees. The session also provided an opportunity for the children to learn about the importance of forests — from enhancing biodiversity and tackling climate change to promoting wellbeing. It was also a pleasure to welcome other members of the local community, rolling up their sleeves to help bring the Tiny Forest to life.
The Tiny Forest will provide a range of lasting benefits, including:
While located within the Tor Place development, the Tiny Forest has been designed to serve the wider community, creating a shared asset that will grow and thrive for generations to come.
At Atkinson Homes, we believe developments should leave a positive legacy. By embedding sustainability and community collaboration into our projects, we’re committed to making a meaningful difference — today and for generations to come.
