Conversion of public toilets into 4 one bedroom affordable homes - Banks Court, Keswick

Category: Residential

This innovative scheme originated from Allerdale Borough Council's strategic plan to support the provision of affordable homes across the borough so that it meets local demand. Keswick Community Housing Trust bought the old public toilets for £1 and appointed us as contractors to convert the property into 4 one-bedroom affordable homes, aiming to help the younger generation live in the centre of Keswick.

We included photo-voltaics to reduce carbon emissions, energy saving lighting and water saving features to ensure excellent building performance and sustainability for the end user.

The apartments themselves are of modern layout with an open plan lounge, kitchen, dining area and one bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.

We have 4 young people delighted with their new homes in the middle of a lively market town, this is a really unique project and a scheme that we're proud to have been a part of.
